Sir Peter Imberrt argues that the abolition of internal frontiers in Europe after 1992 will create dangers of cross-border crime and that international police cooperation is needed.

Argues that the transnationalization of policing in the EU heralds a shift towards a "post-industrial" form of policing. Looks at the need for reform of the police in this context with better accountability arrangements which exist currently.
